The  Problem

Diabetes is the name given to disorders in which the body has trouble regulating its blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels. There are two major types of diabetes: type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes. T1D, previously known as juvenile diabetes or insulin dependent diabetes, is a disorder of the body’s immune system.  It is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin.  Insulin is the hormone needed to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy.  Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body becomes resistant to the effects of insulin or does not make enough insulin.

Our  Mission

The word "juvenile" is no longer descriptive of the disease or those burdened with it. In fact, JDRF market research tells us that 85 percent of those in the U.S with type 1 diabetes are adults. Cars for the Cure USA – The Drive to End Diabetes was created to provide an annual community event to raise awareness of Type 1 Diabetes and to help raise funds so that JDRF and organizations like it can continue to lead the way in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and ultimately curing diabetes.  Click “Who We Are” find out more. 

Get  Involved

Come join us on September 6th in McLean VA.  As always, spectators are free.  $20 early registration (if paid by August 7th) and $30 after August 7th and day of show to bring your car, truck, or motorcycle.  Once again this year Wells Fargo Advisors is bringing out the “living logo” stagecoach for you and your family to climb in for pictures and rides.  Also enjoy live music by local band “Speakeasy"
